So I think Dax is teething. I hadn't really thought that was it because I thought it was way too early, until I was talking to my sister about his recent behavior changes and she immediately suggested it. Then I looked up symptoms and it sure seems like a fit.
My poor baby is teething :(
He's been a fussy cranky screaming baby all week. He has been horrible to get to sleep every night. He's been biting me (ouch ouch super ouch). He drools a ton. His cry sounds higher pitched than normal and painful.
So I'm having just a fun week. :) Lots of cuddles. Poor guy won't let me put him down for a minute. Not even to play his piano! *gasp!*
So we've been basically staying home and not getting much done. Well, getting things done that I can do while wearing or holding him. Like paying bills and doing laundry.
As frustrated as I sometimes feel, especially when he's really screaming, I also kind of enjoy the way having a baby makes me slow down. I've got to just sit down, relax, and feed him. I've got to cuddle and rub and sing to soothe him. These are just precious moments. I wish he weren't in pain, but I'm so glad I can be here to comfort him.
Plus, having the knowledge today that it's him teething, I've been giving him things to chew on and he's been much more content being held (as in, quiet enough to make a load of phone calls I'd needed to do today while he chomped away on frozen toys).
Oh, and I found out the reason we haven't gotten his birth certificate yet is because they were waiting for us to "order" it and it isn't automatic. !?? What was up with the forms we filled out at the hospital for the birth certificate? Shouldn't they have told us at that time and given us the option to order it then, if that was the case? Oh well, it's ordered now so we should have it in 2 weeks.
